Speed & Simplicity Wins

Speed Cooking - Broil Chicken

Broiled chicken is a fast, easy, and cheap way to make a meat dish. You can broil chicken thigh or breast. You can also experiment with whatever spices you like put on the chicken. The only key is to make sure the chicken is fully cooked. Timing depends on your oven and your cut of the chicken. Error on the overcooking and always cut a thick piece open to test. Fine tune your timing after several trials or reheat your food.

Speed Cooking - Microwave Steam Asparagus

You can steam a lot of things with microwave oven. You can buy a steam bag but you can also make your own by just using plastic food wrapping. What I like about asparagus is they are easy to prepare and taste very good after streaming.

Speed Cooking - Microwave Steam Vegitables w/o Steam Bag

I usually keep bags of precut vegetables in the fridge. You can also use leftover from other recipes. All most all vegetables can be steamed by microwave. The generally ideas is add some water to the container, cover the container with plastic wrapper, then microwave it for a couple more minutes. (usually larger than 3 less than 10 for one or two person plate.)

Speed Cooking - Microwave Spicy Shrimp

Want to eat grilled shirmp but has no time to setup the grill? This a perfect recipe for you. It requires very little setup except you have to have frozen shrimp. The idea is that microwave heats up the water in the shrimp and steam cook the shrimp. All we need is to add some spice and wrap the container with clear fridge warp while the shirmp is steamed.

It's a good idea to stock up frozen shrimp in your fridege. I can be used for a quick pasta topping, microwave, stir fry, grill. Frozen shrimp also last a long time.

Did you know that you can micrwave potatoes and have food ready in 5 minutes? No dishes, no preparation and yet an alternative to roman noodles. In fact potatoes are pretty healthy. A potato usually contain a large amount of water. Microwave oven heat up food by vibrating the water molecule. Anything containts water can be heat up easily. I have some small potatoes here and I microwaved three of them for 5 minutes. All potatoes were cooked evenly and takested like boiled potatoes except a little dry.

Urban Bachelor Cooking Recipe - Winter Morning Energy Breakfast

My friend Max is the master of microwave oven cooking. He gave the breakfast recipes.

Max made one for me. See pictures. They are very good. The Winter Morning Energy Breakfast is a little complex than if you just mix hot water with oatmeal but since you are putting different fruits in your breakfast, you don’t get bored with the recipe for a while. The recipe is very scientific. It supposes to release energy over a long period of time. (I am not a bio major so don’t quote me on this.) Honey gives you instant energy boost, and then the fruits will start to kick in finally the oatmeal. So you will feel full and energized the instant after you had your breakfast. (Depends on how much honey you put in) and feel full for the entire morning
